Austin String Works is located in NW Austin close to the 183 and 45/620 interchange. We provide full services for all fretted instruments both acoustic and electric. Services include string changes, professional setups, intonation issues, fret work, structural issues, neck resets, crack repair, loose bridges, loose braces, custom bone nuts, custom bone saddles, broken necks, cracked headstocks, Floyd Rose type tremolos, loose bindings, pickup installs, electronics repair , customizations, case repairs and many others.  All work is performed in our temperature and humidity controlled shop.  Professionally trained and experienced, we offer quality work with much attention to detail at reasonable rates.  All work is guaranteed and your instrument will be ready when promised.  Estimates and instrument condition evaluations are always free with no obligation.  We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and cash.  

Austin String Works is owned and operated by Luthier John Lewis.  John is a certified Luthier and graduate of Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix Arizona.  Roberto-Venn is the oldest accredited guitar luthiery school in the United States.  John has received training from Frank Ford, (Luthier and Co-owner of Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto, California) and Jon Eaton (Luthier and Owner of Woodsongs Lutherie in Boulder, Colorado).  Training in pickup winding and repair, taught by Jason Lollar (Luthier and Owner of Lollar Guitars in Vashon, WA) was also obtained. John served as the store Luthier at Guitar Center in Round Rock, Texas before opening his own business.  John has serviced well over two thousand fretted instruments of all types which include both acoustic and electric models.  John is also a member of the Guild of American Luthiers, and the Association of Stringed Instrument Artisans.
